ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that the threat of nuclear catastrophe has returned, urging world leaders to renew efforts towards dialogue, diplomacy and nuclear disarmament.
Guterres, in remarks posted on his official X handle on Saturday, said recent setbacks must not weaken the international community’s resolve to prevent a nuclear catastrophe.
“The threat of nuclear catastrophe is back,” he said.
The UN chief called for dialogue rather than division and diplomacy rather than confrontation, stressing the need to prioritise disarmament over destruction.
“It’s time to choose dialogue over division, diplomacy over confrontation & disarmament over destruction,” Guterres said.
He urged the international community to work towards building a safer and more peaceful world for all.
