The Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially announced the theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, set to be celebrated in 2025.
The anniversary will be marked under the banner: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
This was revealed in a statement on Wednesday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information & Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The theme highlights the critical need for unity, collaboration, and patriotism across all sectors—public, private, civil society, and the citizenry—to build a nation characterized by lasting peace, prosperity, and progress.
The statement emphasized:
“Since Nigeria gained independence on October 1, 1960, the nation has overcome numerous challenges and made significant strides across various economic sectors. This anniversary calls for collective action to consolidate these achievements and pursue higher goals, aiming to create a strong and inclusive nation for all.”
Government initiatives and programs leading up to the anniversary are expected to align with the official theme, reinforcing the message in all facets of national development and the broader Renewed Hope Agenda.
As part of the commemoration activities, the government announced the following events:
Juma’at Prayer on Friday, 26th September at 1 PM
Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, 28th September at 10 AM
World Press Conference on Monday, 29th September at 10 AM
These events aim to foster unity and reflect on the nation’s progress while rallying all Nigerians toward a shared vision of a greater and more prosperous Nigeria.
