FCT, Abuja – President Bola Tinubu has said Governors Babagana Zulum, Dikko Radda and Uba Sani of Borno, Katsina and Kaduna have improved on insecurity in their states.

The president gave the accolades to the governors while speaking at the opening of the second edition of the National Economic Council Conference in Abuja on Monday, February 9, adding that many of the governors have worked hard in securing their states.

President Bola Tinubu has commended the governors of Kaduna, Katsina and Borno for improvement in the fight against insecurity.

President Tinubu reiterated his pledge to strengthen the country’s security forces in the fight against terrorism. He said the situation has kept him and the governors sleepless while expressing the confidence that Nigeria will win the fight against insecurity “with determination and resiliency.”

His statement reads in part:

“We will overcome this unacceptable terrorism and banditry. It’s not part of our culture. It’s foreign to us. So it is an economic sabotage if we do not find an immediate solution. I commend many of you, particularly the governor of Borno State, the governor of Katsina, the governor of Kaduna, and many of you who have done so much to defend our freedom, liberty, and our commonwealth.”
How Nigerians react to Tinubu’s comment
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have started reacting to the video of the president’s comment at the conference on Monday, February 9. Below are some of their comments:

Adebanji commended the president:

“He is the architect currently rebuilding the foundations of Nigeria. From tackling insecurity to restoring our economy, he is securing our future. Watch closely: Nigeria will be great again.”
Sen. Idris Haruna queried the president’s speech:

“If insecurity has truly kept leaders sleepless, the proof should be in visible, nationwide action, not speeches at economic councils. Nigerians deserve results, not reassurances that sound impressive but accomplish nothing.”

King Dave criticised the comment:

“The President says insecurity keeps him ‘sleepless at night.’ If the Commander-in-Chief can’t sleep in the most secure villa in Africa, imagine the parents in Katsina and Kaduna who are sleeping with one eye open. We don’t need a President who stays awake; we need a President who makes sure the bandits don’t.”
Alebo condemned the president’s address:

“These kinds of statements are the only things Nigerian leaders know how to make at all times; there is no change. Even a tiny responsibility is too much for them to handle. Anyone who believes this kind of talk is only deceiving himself.”
