Abuja (Precise Post) – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the country’s first Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the national rollout of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.
Uzodimma, who also chairs the Progressive Governors Forum, will serve concurrently as Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation. His task: spearheading nationwide evangelism of the administration’s programmes in close collaboration with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and governors.
According to the statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President, (Information and Strategy), Bayo Onanuga released on his X handle on Tuesday in Abuja, the appointment takes immediate effect.
The Presidency further stated that , Uzodimma will drive harmony, inclusiveness and strategic coordination across all levels of the APC, while also mobilising citizens and amplifying the party’s message. APC governors will join him as Ambassadors of Hope.
President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, expects Uzodimma and his colleagues to highlight the administration’s achievements, from economic reforms to social programmes, since the advent of the Renewed Hope agenda.
The Presidency pointed to a string of indicators it says reflect a strengthening economy: inflation easing for seven consecutive months to 16.05% in October; a stabilised exchange rate; and foreign reserves rising to over $46 billion, up from the $32 billion level and the net $4 billion reportedly inherited in 2023. Government officials also cite renewed investor confidence, rising foreign direct and portfolio inflows, a booming stock market, and diversification gains in solid minerals.
Additional milestones touted include over 700,000 students enrolled under the government’s educational loan scheme and a drastically shortened passport processing timeline of under one week.
In a message to Uzodimma, President Tinubu urged him to ensure Nigerians “are aware of and understand” the administration’s record so far.
