The United Kingdom has revised its travel advisory on Kaduna State, officially removing it from the “Red” list and placing it under the “Amber” category—a move that now allows British citizens to travel freely to the state.
The announcement was made by Cynthia Rowe, Development Director of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), during the signing of a new Mutual Accountability Framework (KaMAF) with the Kaduna State Government.
Rowe explained that Kaduna had been on the “Red” list since 2022 due to security concerns but was reclassified following significant improvements in the state’s security situation.
“This reclassification is recognition of the state government’s efforts to address insecurity, and it sends a positive signal to potential investors,” Rowe stated.
The KaMAF agreement was signed by Governor Uba Sani on behalf of Kaduna State and Cynthia Rowe on behalf of the FCDO. The pact is designed to strengthen cooperation in key areas such as governance, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
Governor Sani noted that the partnership had already produced notable results, including:
A reduction in maternal and child mortality rates.
Expanded access to healthcare.
Upgrades in schools and teacher training.
He further disclosed that over 10% of Kaduna’s 2025 budget has been allocated to enhance crop and livestock productivity.
The governor also highlighted reform initiatives such as the Local Government Transparency, Accountability, and Sustainability (LG-TAS) programme, Issue-Based Projects, and Community Development Charters, which are all aimed at boosting citizen participation and accountability in governance.
Expressing optimism about the state’s future, Sani emphasized that the renewed partnership with the UK will help consolidate Kaduna’s reputation as a hub for resilience, inclusive growth, and investment opportunities.
“This new phase of partnership will accelerate development and further position Kaduna as an investment-friendly state,” the governor affirmed.
