Abuja (Precise Post) – The Lagos state government on Sunday explained why it released the remains of the late Chief of Staff Abba Kyari who died of COVID-19 to the federal government.
The Lagos state government who disclosed this through the Commissioner of Health, Dr Akin Abaymi said there is no policy in place now that says remains of COVID-19 patient cannot be released to the family of the deceased.
He stressed that what is important is to ensure that the protocol before Burial of a deceased who died of COVID-19 is followed before the release is made.
According to him, the protocol is that the body will first be decontaminated, put in a sealed body bag and then In a sealed coffin before releasing to the family members.
The commissioner who stated this during the Lagos state government COVID-19 upate further informed that the ventilators available have been divided into two, some for COVID-19 patients while the others are for other sicknesses.
This, he said is because you cannot use the ventilator for COVID-19 patient on a patient with other ailments.
