TARABA – The Wukari branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Taraba has named it proposed  secretariat after Justice Joel Agya, Chief Judge of Taraba.
Mr Namo Samson, Chairman, Planning Committee of the 2026  Nigerian Bar Association Law Week,  made the declaration on Thursday at the Stone Laying Ceremony for the Justice Joel F Agya Bar Centre in Wukari.
Samson said that the honour was in recognition of the immense contributions of Justice Agya to the growth of the branch in particular and the tremendous Judicial reforms in Taraba.
Earlier, Mr Hassan Saubana, chairman of NBA Wukari branch said that the ceremony was unique, remarkable as well as monumental in the history of the branch.
Saubana also said that the secretariat, when completed, would serve as a unifying centre for all lawyers in the southern part of Taraba and beyond.
He solicited support from all and sundry for the completion of the project.
In his remarks, Justice Agya said that the foundation laying ceremony signified a better foundation for future legal practice within the community.
He called on the government, politicians and other well meaning members of the public to assist in the development and completion of the centre.
The chief Judge thanked the NBA for the honour, assuring them  that he would support the project to be completed before the end of his tenure.
” I am highly honoured by this recognition. I thank the NBA for  naming the secretariat after me. This poses a big challenge to me and I pledge to continue to give  my best.
” I want to assure the branch that I must make sure this project is completed before the end of my tenure.
” I call on the government, private sector, our senator, our house of representative members and other notable politicians to support the project,” Agya appealed.
Reports that the chief Judge was accompanied to the event by several justices of the state high court.
The event was also attended by mostly indigenous lawyers from the Southern Taraba region and Judicial officers. (NAN)
