Awka (Precise Post) – The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), boss, Chief George Moghalu, yesterday said that talks on the concession of Onitsha Port as an inland waterway had reached advanced stage and would soon be concluded.
Moghalu, who disclosed this in a keynote address delivered during the second sensitisation seminar of stakeholders by NIWA in Onitsha, said opportunities abound in the maritime sector that could lift the economy of Nigeria to greater heights, regretting that such have remained largely unexploited.
He said that government had created the enabling environment for investors, especially the private sectors, to operate with the aim of improving activities in Onitsha Port.(Guardian).
