Abuja, (PRECISE POST — In a major step toward enhancing digital governance and public trust, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy (FMCIDE), with support from the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, has launched the Nigeria Web Design Standards (NWDS).

The initiative was formally introduced during a National Workshop held in Abuja, bringing together a diverse group of Nigerian designers—both local and international—who have been working collaboratively for several months on the project. The workshop also included the NWDS advisory group, reflecting a wide spectrum of expertise and perspectives.

Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, emphasized the importance of consistency and accessibility in government digital services. “Public trust is reinforced when government presents itself online in a consistent, familiar and accessible way,” he said.

The NWDS will serve as a comprehensive framework providing clear, user-friendly, and inclusive design guidelines for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The standards are aimed at making government websites and digital services more coherent, easier to use, and truly citizen-centric.

“This is a key step towards harmonising government’s digital presence, enhancing service delivery, and building the trust that comes when government works better — and looks it too,” Dr. Tijani added.

The NWDS initiative is part of broader efforts to promote Nigerian excellence in digital innovation and to modernize how citizens interact with government services online.
