Abuja (PRECISE POST) — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following unspecified allegations leveled against him.
The development was confirmed in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Precise Post recalls that Nnaji’s resignation comes amid growing scrutiny of public officials, though no official charges have been brought against him as of the time of this report.
Nnaji, who was appointed to the position in August 2023, tendered his resignation in a letter addressed to the President on Tuesday. In the letter, he expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the nation and claimed he had become a victim of political blackmail.
“I have been the target of sustained blackmail by political opponents,” Nnaji stated, without disclosing further details on the nature of the allegations.
President Tinubu, in response, thanked Nnaji for his service and wished him success in his future endeavors.
