ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Peoples’ Democratic Party candidate for Obingwa West State Constituency, Enyinnaya Appolos, says he’s treating the 2027 Abia State House of Assembly election like a contest he intends to win, dismissing complacency and warning rivals he’s ready for the fight ahead.
After securing the Peoples Democratic Party ticket for Obingwa West, Appolos made clear he views the nomination as the start of work, not the finish line. The former journalist and media strategist said he won’t underestimate any opponent or take lightly the trust PDP leaders placed in him.
“I will not underrate my opponents or their political parties. I came prepared for this assignment, and I will meet them in the field,” Appolos said following his emergence as the party’s flagbearer.
He framed the campaign as one built on strategy, direct voter engagement, and loyalty to the PDP. Appolos stressed that elections are won through preparation and hard work, not assumptions, and pledged to run a campaign rooted in those principles.
Appolos brings significant political and media experience to the race. He served as Political Correspondent for The Nation and Nigerian Compass_ Newspapers, and was Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to former Abia State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
He told party stakeholders that securing the ticket carries responsibility. “The confidence shown in me by party leaders, stakeholders, members and supporters will only strengthen my resolve to work harder for the interest of the party and the people,” he said.
For Appolos, the mission extends beyond winning a seat. He said his focus is on delivering purposeful representation and upholding PDP’s political values in Obingwa West. He also reaffirmed his commitment to remain loyal to the party as campaigning intensifies.
With the 2027 election cycle ramping up, Appolos signaled he intends to run a disciplined, focused campaign aimed at both consolidating PDP’s base and convincing undecided voters in the constituency.
