ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called for urgent action to halt the widening of armed conflicts, protect civilians and create room for diplomacy and peace amid intensifying global crises.
Guterres made the appeal in a post on his official X handle on Saturday shortly after arriving in Egypt, warning that escalating conflicts were deepening human suffering and widening existing inequalities across the world.
“Amid intensifying conflicts, I carry a message with me: We need to stop the widening of war, protect civilians and create the political space for diplomacy and peace,” he stated.
The UN chief also stressed the need to address the inequalities dividing societies, warning that multiplying conflicts were worsening human suffering and pushing an already unequal world further apart.
“We must tackle the inequalities that divide societies – and stop the conflicts that are multiplying human suffering and pushing an already unequal world further apart,” Guterres added.
Precise Post recalls that his remarks underscore renewed calls for international cooperation, civilian protection and diplomatic engagement as conflicts continue to pose humanitarian and security challenges across different regions.
Further recall that Guterres’s appeal also highlights the importance of addressing the underlying inequalities that can deepen divisions within societies and complicate efforts to achieve lasting peace.
