Port Harcourt (Precise Post) – In a bid to nip the activities of criminals in the bud, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has re-launches the State’s security outfit tagged C4I.
Wike who announced this via his official twitter handle, said the members of the outfit comprises of 400 policemen and 200 civil defence personnel trained in relevant skills to ensure they carry out their duty efficiently.
He said the re-launch of C41 is in pursuit of his administration’s desire to ensure the safety of lives and property in Rivers State.
The Governor Rivers State who commended the efforts of his government to curb insecurity in the state noted that his administration has made appreciable success in the area of security but said that they wouldn’t rest on our oars.
“We have made appreciable success in the area of security but we wouldn’t rest on our oars. With C4I we intend to take it a step further by adopting a proactive policing approach and nipping the effort of criminals in the bud, he said.
Wike further informed that the C4i vehicles branded with their Local Government Areas of responsibility have been deployed to each Local Government Area in the state to further boost our security in the riverine areas,
The governor while reiterating his resolve to ensure that all security agencies discharged their duty, promised that in the next few weeks, the state government would donate a total of fifteen gunboats to the Navy, Army and Police in Rivers State
He therefore commended the Inspector General of Police represented by AIG Zone 16, Austin .I. Agbonlahor and other service Commanders that attended the launch.
Wike charged the security agencies to abstain from politics but focus on their primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of people of the state.
Precise Post recalls that escalating insecurity in the country had led to increased agitation for state police and formation of regional security outfits such as Amotekun, ENM among others.
