Gale Of Defection In PDP Consumes Another Party Member

by Edit

Abuja – The gale of defection rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has consumed another member of the party.

This time, one of PDP’s prominent women voices who propelled PDP’s Presidential campaign ” neighbour-to-neighbour “, in 2011 for former President Goodluck Jonathan, senator, Stella Oduah.

Oduah sealed her move to APC after a short meeting with the Chairman of APC Caretaker Committee, Mai Mala Buni in Abuja on Thursday.

The brief ceremony which also had in attendance, the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and APC candidate for the forth coming governorship election in Anambra state, Andy Uba, was facilitated by the Governor of IMO State, Hope UZODINMA.

Speaking with journalists, Oduah said her decision to dump the PDP was dictated by the desire of her constituents to engage in progressive politics which she said the APC stands for.

Oduah currently represents Anambra North in the Senate and her defection barely two months to governorship election in the state is believed to strengthen the chances of the party and that of its candidate, Andy Uba at the polls.

Oduah served in the cabinet of former President Jonathan as Minister of Aviation between 2011 and 2014 when she was relieved of the position on corruption charges.

Six years after the PDP lost power, Oduah on Thursday abandoned the party; switching her allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) swelling the number of those who have turned their backs on PDP to the benefit of APC in recent times.
