An Indian family of five, relocating to London, was among the victims of a tragic plane crash. Dr. Prateek Joshi, his wife Dr. Komi Vyas, and their three young children—daughter Miraya and twin sons Pradyut and Nakul—were on board the ill-fated flight, hoping to begin a new chapter in their lives. What was meant to be a fresh start ended in unimaginable loss.
Dr. Prateek had initially moved to London for higher studies. After three years of establishing his career, he was preparing to reunite with his family. Dr. Komi Vyas had recently resigned from her position at Pacific Medical College and Hospital in Udaipur and was excited to join her husband and raise their children in the UK. Just days before the crash, she had shared her plans with colleagues.
“Prateek came home a month ago, full of excitement and dreams. They shopped across Udaipur, carefully choosing items for their new life in London,” said Lokesh Shukla, a close family friend and neighbor.
Dr. Prateek’s father, J.P. Joshi, runs a sonography center in Udaipur, while his mother, Dr. Anita Joshi, is also a medical professional. The family was widely respected not only for their achievements but also for their humility, kindness, and strong values.
The tragic crash also claimed the lives of several other residents of Rajasthan. Among them were five people from Udaipur: siblings Shubh and Shagun Modi, chefs Vardi Chand and Prakash Chandra Menaria, and student Payal Khateek. Shubh and Shagun were traveling to London for a holiday. Payal was pursuing higher studies, and the Menaria brothers, who worked as chefs in the UK, were returning after a family visit.
In Balotra, Khushboo Rajpurohit, recently married and traveling to join her doctor husband in the UK, was also among the victims. Abhinav Parihar from Bikaner, who was on a business trip to the UK, lost his life in the crash as well.
Officials from Udaipur stated that the victims’ bodies are expected to arrive by Friday evening after DNA identification is completed. Cremations are likely to take place on Saturday. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has extended condolences to the grieving families and assured them of all possible support.
