ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has praised former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, describing him as an exemplary officer whose professional experience could offer valuable insights into Nigeria’s security challenges.
Obi made the remarks in a post on his official X handle on Saturday following the public presentation of Abubakar’s book, Beyond the Bullet: Policing Terrorism in a Democratic System, held at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja.
The former governor said he was honoured to join other leaders at the event in recognition of the retired police chief’s contributions to national security and public service.
Reflecting on his experience with Abubakar during his tenure as IGP, Obi described him as remarkably accessible and responsive, particularly in emergencies.
“Having known him as a fine and exemplary officer, I am confident, even though I have yet to read the book, that it reflects deep professionalism and offers valuable insights into securing our nation while upholding the rule of law and human dignity,” he said.
Obi, who began his Saturday engagements with a visit to the Clarissan Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Onitsha, Anambra State, to celebrate their Golden Jubilee, congratulated the retired IGP on the publication.
He wished Abubakar greater success in his future endeavours, expressing confidence in his continued contributions to Nigeria’s development.
The former governor also called on other Nigerians who had served the country faithfully to document and share their experiences, saying such contributions could help shape the country’s future.
According to him, sharing the experiences of distinguished public servants would contribute to building a “New Nigeria” that is possible and OK.
