Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Distillers and Blenders Association of Nigeria (DIBAN) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) staged a protest on Friday at the Lagos office of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The demonstrators are opposing the enforcement of the ban on producing and selling alcoholic beverages in sachets and small bottles, arguing that it threatens jobs and investments across the industry.
Protesters were seen carrying placards with slogans such as “Stop destroying local manufacturers,” “N2 trillion investment deserves protection,” and “5.5 million Nigerians cannot be pushed to the streets,” as they urged authorities to reconsider the policy and its potential economic impact.
