ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The family of former Kaduna State Governor and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has given the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd.), seven days to substantiate his allegation that the former governor actively planned killings in Southern Kaduna or publicly retract the claim.
The family, in a statement issued on Monday by Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai and posted on his X handle, described the allegation as grave and expressed concern that it was made without any evidence to support it.
General Musa had made the allegation on September 3, 2026, during a live appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
According to the El-Rufai family, while the Defence Minister is entitled to express his personal opinions, such a serious allegation against the former governor must be backed by credible evidence.
The family therefore demanded that Musa either produce evidence supporting his claim or issue a full public retraction and apology through the same medium where the allegation was made.
“Accordingly, General Musa (Rtd.) is hereby given seven (7) days from the date of this statement to either provide evidence in support of his allegation or issue a full public retraction and apology,” the statement said.
The family warned that failure by the minister to comply with the demand would compel it to pursue “all appropriate legal remedies available under the law” in response to what it described as unsubstantiated allegations.
El-Rufai, who served as FCT minister under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, was governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023. He is currently associated with the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
