Abuja (Precise Post) – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila on Wednesday blocked the point of order by the Minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu demanding for resignation or sacking of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami.
Precise Post recalls that Pantami has been heavily criticised by Nigerians for
once defending activities of Jihadist leaders and deadly Islamic sects.
Nigerians have been calling for his resignation or get sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Before members get to make contributions, Speaker Gemi Gbajabiamila overruled his point of Order, stating that Elumelu was not acting within his parliamentary privilesge.
“Your point of order is noted,” Gbajabiamila said and hit the gavel.
The plenary has since moved to other items on the House’ agenda.
Also, in a press interview with the State House correspondence after FEC meeting, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Lai Mohammed when asked said, Pantami’s matter was not discussed.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that no reasonable Government would allow a person with the issues around Dr Patami remain in its cabinet. Adding that ordinarily the Minister should leave immediately but this Government doesn’t care.
“This should not be allowed, saying it was done in the past or he has repented is not the issue.
“It is inexcusable, at best we can say the seeds he sowed has germinated and led to the killing and destruction of people.
“If I was in such a situation I would have tendered my resignation.”
