Abuja (PRECISE POST) – The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs held a closed-door session on Tuesday with the leadership of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to discuss strategic preparations for a smooth 2025 Hajj exercise.
The meeting, which lasted over three hours at the National Assembly, was led by the Chairman of NAHCON, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, and top members of the Commission’s management team.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero, former Governor of Kebbi State and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, said the discussions were centered around ensuring a hitch-free Hajj next year. Senator Aliero represented the Committee Chairman, Senator Mohammed Sani Bello.
“The meeting was an interactive session with key stakeholders to ensure we have a smooth and successful 2025 Hajj,” Aliero stated. “The NAHCON Chairman has briefed us extensively on the arrangements already in place, and we are very satisfied. Everything is on track.”
Addressing concerns about logistics, Senator Aliero confirmed that those issues were discussed in detail. “They’ve made the necessary preparations to prevent any logistical hiccups. We are confident that there will be no problems or disruptions,” he assured.
When asked about the disputes between tour operators and NAHCON during the 2024 Hajj, Senator Aliero emphasized that the focus was on the future. “We didn’t dwell on past crises. Our concern is the present and the successful conduct of the 2025 Hajj,” he said.
The Senate Committee reiterated its commitment to working closely with NAHCON to ensure Nigerian pilgrims enjoy a smooth and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience.
