By Chris Udochukwu Abuja (Precise Post) – The House of Representatives Committee on Aviation headed by Honourable Nnolim Nnaji has urged the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) to put all necessary measures to avert a repeat of the type of power outage experienced at the D finger arrival of the international wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, (MMIA), Ikeja Lagos last week. The D finger arrival was thrown into darkness for over fifteen minutes on the night of Friday, first of April, 2022 at about 11:15 pm at the time the disembarked Air France passengers were undergoing facilitations. Honourable Nnaji in his opening remarks at the meeting with the FAAN management and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA) stressed that the committee had to invite the two organizations for explanations on the incident following a disturbing video that went verile at the weekend. Covid-19: FG Moves To Shut Lagos, Abuja Airports On Monday

By Our Reporter Abuja (Precise Post) – The federal government said it will on Monday, March 23 shut down the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos; and Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja to contain the coronavirus pandemic, The Nation said. Nigeria has already recorded 22 confirmed cases of the deadly virus. The Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu, disclosed this in a statement. Three other international airports in Kano, Enugu and Port Harcourt shut for flight operations were shut on Saturday, leaving the two most important airports in the country open. The closure will last April 23, according to Nuhu, adding emergency and essential flights would be operated from both airports within the period. He said the measure is expedient due to the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic which increased geometrically from 12 to 22 cases on Saturday. He noted that domestic flight operations would continue normally in all airports in the country.

MMIA: Police Prosecute 123 For Various Offences

By Yunus Yusuf Lagos – The Lagos Airport Police Command says no fewer than 123 persons were charged to court for allegedly committing various offences at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos between January and July 2019. The spokesman for the command, DSP Joseph Alabi, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, on Friday. NAN reports that some of the suspects were charged with assault, stealing, obtaining by false pretenses as well as unlawful entry and touting, which contravene the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) bye Laws. Alabi said the command made 184 arrests and secured 31 convictions within the period, adding that 21 persons were still under investigation while 26 others were awaiting trial.
