ABUJA – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) led by Governor Olayemi Cardoso had on Friday 19th July, issued a directive to banks and other financial institutions to transfer all dormant accounts, unclaimed balances and other financial assets to its dedicated account.
The relased circular signed by its acting Director of the Financial Policy and Banking Regulation Department, John Onojah, said all dormant accounts and unclaimed balances with banks for at least 10 years, will be warehoused in a dedicated account known as the Unclaimed Balances Trust Fund Pool Account.
However, the question that Cardoso must answer posed by the human rights activist and federal lawmaker that represented Kaduna Central senatorial district at the 8th senate, Senator Shehu Sani is: ” the dormant account CBN wants to seize is it the one with money or without money?
