ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  Nigerians have described as premature, the commendation of the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by Senator Shehu Sani for handing over the 753 housing units seized from the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele to the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).

Precise Post recalls that on Tuesday, the EFCC in a statement hinted that it has handed over recovered 753 housing units traced to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor in Abuja to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Further recall that that the estate, spanning 150,500 square metres, located on Plot 109, Cadastral Zone C09, Lokogoma District, Abuja, was recovered and became the federal government’s property after a court ordered its final forfeiture in December last year.

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, formally transferred the property during a brief ceremony at the headquarters of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Developmentin in Abuja on Tuesday.

Mr Oyewale said the estate comprises duplexes and other apartment units recovered with the backing of a final forfeiture order given on 2 December 2024 by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Shortly after the news hit the airwaves, Senator Shehu Sani took to his verified X handle and commended the EFCC Boss, Ola Olukoyede for handing over of the seized properties to the Federal Housing Authority, saying it is one of the most unprecedented transparent process that has happened in Nigeria’s anti corruption history.  In the past, it would just have been dubiously auctioned to proxies.

However, some citizens have reacted to Shehu Sani’s commendation,  reminding that it is not uhuru yet pointing out areas the Commission  have not met requirement and needs to do more in terms of transparency.

Reacting to Comrade Shehu Sani’s remarks, Mahdi Shehu @shehu_mahdi said:

,”Hm. It is not yet over until it is over.

1. The said 753 houses were built from proceeds suspected to be from CBN treasury and the CBN belongs to all Nigerians.

2. The next level of transparency is not to Auction the said houses through THE RENEWED HOPE PORTAL as made public by Arc Ahmed Dangiwa, the Housing minister.

3. Rather the Federal, states and local governments should be allocated these houses based on agreed, balance and fair formulary, since as bad as they appear , they are the only structures that appear to reflect people.

4. Selling the houses through the so-called Renewed HOPE PORTAL, means a sharing spree from the BACKEND among Senators, members, ministers, cabals, mistresses, wives, sons, daughters, pimps, hangers-on etc

5. The public is also waiting for the remittance of Trillions recovered by the EFCC into the Federation account for distribution according to the existing or any agreed sharing formula.

6. Remember that not long ago The EFCC chairman in a bizarre manner donated N50 Billion to the Student loan fund from the recovered loots. This is unacceptable. Because the said recovered monies do not belong to the EFCC.

7. Other recovered properties scattered all over Nigeria are not being disposed off in open and transparent manner nor full disclosure of their proceeds told to the public.

A DAY IS COMING, he added.

In his own remarks, @Lifeissues_11 said, “That’s good. The only problem I have is, why is Emefiele the only one being investigated under Buhari led Govt? NJ.

While replying, @H_Okubadejo ask, “If u have info abt others, u can wire them to the efcc.
When a man over eat to stupor, there will be no covering for him.
