Abuja (PRECISE POST) — The Transparency Advocacy for Development Initiative (TADI) has issued a strong rebuttal to a recent report by Sahara Reporters, which alleged a $1.5 million bribery scandal involving key security aides to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a press statement delivered on Sunday (today) by TADI’s Executive Director, Ambassador Yomi David, the organization described the allegations as “baseless, unfounded, and reckless,” accusing Sahara Reporters of spearheading a “deliberate, malicious, and coordinated campaign of misinformation.”
“This is not journalism, it is sabotage,” Amb. David declared, stressing that no credible evidence had been presented to substantiate the bribery claims. He argued that the report was designed to discredit trusted aides, destabilize the Presidency, and erode public confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.
TADI further alleged that the publication forms part of a broader strategy by certain unnamed interests to derail the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and obstruct ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable development and security.
“The strategy is clear: discredit his aides, sow discord within his inner circle, and ultimately, create a narrative of instability around the leadership of President Tinubu,” the statement read.
The organization demanded that Sahara Reporters either provide verifiable evidence to back its claims or retract the report and issue a public apology. It also pledged to explore all legal and civil measures to safeguard the integrity of the Presidency and its officials.
Reaffirming support for President Tinubu, TADI called on Nigerians to dismiss what it described as “sensationalized and irresponsible” journalism and vowed that efforts to manipulate public perception through falsehoods would not succeed.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to delivering on his Renewed Hope Agenda, and no amount of blackmail, misinformation, or media harassment will derail his vision for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
