United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres has lamented that Africa – a continent that boasts of abundant sunshine, powerful wind resources and a treasure trove of minerals vital for clean technologies, remains sidelined, receiving only a sliver of global renewables investment.

Guterres, who took to his verified X handle to disclose this,  warns that unless urgent action is taken to mobilize finance and technology, Africa’s immense natural wealth may once again benefit others instead of its own people.

The call is growing louder to shift global priorities and unlock Africa’s energy potential for its own sustainable, sovereign future.
