“This Is the Time to Stand with the Party” – Wike Publicly Backs APC Ahead of 2026 AMAC Elections

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling on residents of Tunga Madaki and surrounding communities to vote for the party in the upcoming February 2026 Area Council elections.

Speaking at the official flag-off of a 7-kilometre road project—featuring four-span bridges to connect Tunga Madaki with eight other rural settlements—Wike endorsed Christopher Maikalangu, the incumbent Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

Wike urged the people to reflect on the lack of progress under previous administrations and reward Maikalangu, now in the APC, for bringing tangible development to the region.

“One good turn deserves another. When you do for me, I do for you. When you stand by me, I stand by you. When you listen to me, I listen to you,” Wike stated.

Highlighting the sacrifices made by the community—particularly the loss of ancestral lands for the second airport runway project—Wike criticized the previous neglect of the area and emphasized that development must follow sacrifice.

“It was unfair that you gave up your land for a national project like a second runway and yet had no access road—even to the very airport you helped make possible. I took this matter to Mr. President, and he said, ‘Whatever they ask for, give it to them.’ Today, we are here to fulfill that promise,” Wike added.

“You’ve had council chairmen before—did anyone remember Tunga Madaki? Did they connect you to the airport? Ask them where they were when your roads were impassable.”

The FCT Minister concluded by urging residents to support the APC, which he said has shown commitment through action, not promises.

“Remember the man who remembered you during the rainy season. This is the time to stand with the party that brought development to your doorstep,” Wike said.

Wike also announced that the ongoing road and bridge project, being handled by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), is expected to be completed and commissioned by June 2026, coinciding with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
