ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a newly completed 30-flat residential facility for married non-commissioned officers at NAF Base Makurdi, as part of efforts to improve personnel welfare and strengthen operational readiness.
The facility was commissioned on Friday, September 18, 2026, by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi.
Speaking at the commissioning, Aneke said the provision of decent accommodation for personnel and their families was essential to building a focused, motivated and mission-ready force capable of responding effectively to Nigeria’s security demands.
The CAS said the new residential facility demonstrated the Service’s continued investment in the welfare and wellbeing of its personnel, noting that improved living conditions could help reduce domestic pressures and enable personnel to remain focused and committed to their duties.
According to him, an airman provided with decent accommodation would be better positioned to maintain high levels of morale, productivity and operational effectiveness.
He said the 30-flat facility would help address accommodation challenges faced by personnel at the base while improving the quality of life of beneficiaries.
The CAS further noted that investments in personnel welfare were not merely about providing better living conditions but were also critical to sustaining a professional, resilient and effective fighting force capable of delivering airpower in support of national security objectives.
Aneke urged the beneficiaries to take proper care of the facility and ensure that it remained in good condition.
The commissioning is part of the NAF’s broader efforts to strengthen personnel welfare alongside operational capability, with the Service emphasising the connection between improved living conditions, personnel morale and mission effectiveness.
