Abuja (Precise Post) – Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the statement credited to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State wherein he called his Bauchi State counterpart -Bala Mohammed a terrorist.
Fani-Kayode in a swift reaction via his twitter handle, said it’s uncharitable and absurd to describe Bala as a terrorist, adding that his spirit is clean and his mind is pure.
The former Aviation Minister who informed that Bala is a man who stands up for Southerners Middle Belters and Christians as much as he stands up for Northern Muslims, reminded that was it not for Bala Mohammed’s efforts at the floor of the Senate, President Goodluck Jonathan may not have become President after President Yar’adua died.
Fani-Kayode who absolved Governor Bala of any blame reiterated that he is not the one that leads a state in which Christians are being slaughtered or that ethnic minorities are being marginalised, humiliated and destroyed. He therefore advised Ortom to choose battles wisely and know who the real enemies are.
His tweets reads:
“We must choose our battles wisely and know who our real enemies are. I have disagreed with my friend & brother Gov. Bala Mohammed on several ocassions over the years and I do not share his views on a number of issues but to describe him as a terrorist is uncharitable and absurd.
This is a man who stands up for Southerners Middle Belters and Christians as much as he stands up for Northern Muslims. It is fair to say that had it not been for his efforts President Goodluck Jonathan may not have become President after President Yaradua died.
His role in the Senate at that time in ensuring that the then Vice President Goodluck Jonathan was declared Acting President was exemplary and inspiring. Bala may sometimes say things that many in the South disagree with but his spirit is clean and his mind is pure.
He is not a racist, a religious bigot or a hegemonist & supremacist. He is not the one that leads a state in which Christians are being slaughtered or that ethnic minorities are being marginalised, humiliated and destroyed.

Precise Post recalls that Ortom who reacted to attack on him from Bala said that Bala was trying to Incite the Fulanis against him. He said he has Fulani friends and that Fulanis of Nigeria are good people, that the Fulanis he is against, are those ones who carry AK-47 who come from Niger, Mali, Cameroon and from other countries who have sinister motives.
Stressing that any Fulanis who wants to do legitimate business are welcome to the state but that those who want to carry AK-47 should go to Bala Mohammed’s state or he will be apprehended in Benue.
“Laws of Nigeria will be obeyed in Benue and anybody who is not ready to obey will be apprehended”, Ortom said.
