Fufore (Adamawa) – The Adamawa Government says it has designated 452 health facilities for the 2019 2nd round immunisation against child killer diseases for children aged 0-59 months.
Prof. Abdullahi Isa, the state’s Commissioner for Health, disclosed this at the flag-off of the campaign at Gurin in Fufore Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Tuesday.
Isa said the campaign tagged Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) week would also witness provision of services like screening for acute malnutrition, de-worming and administration of vitamin ‘A’ to children among others.
“Also there will be distribution of mosquito nets, health education messages on key house hold practice, HIV/AIDS testing and counselling as well as provision of child spacing services,” he said.
The commissioner said that to ensure the success of the exercise, senior supervisors had been posted to all the 21 LGAs of the state to monitor and supervise the exercise.
Speaking, the Executive Chairman of the State Primary Healthcare Agency, Dr Batulu Mohammad, said parents were expected to present their children at any of the 452 health facility within the first three days of the campaign.
“For three-days services will be provided at the facilities, while the remaining days would be use for house-to-house service,” Mohammad said.
She lauded the Aisha Buhari’ Future Assured, Save One Million Lives (SOML) and UN Children Fund (UNICEF), for their support in healthcare delivery in the state.
In her remarks, the wife of the state governor,
Mrs Lami Fintiri, urged traditional and religious leaders to mobilise pregnant women and their children to take maximum use of the campaign.
In their respective remarks, the Chairman of Fufore LGA, Alhaji Musa Umaru, and the District Head of Gurin, Alhaji Ibrahim Yero, thanked government for choosing the village for the flag-off and assured that they would mobilise their people to ensure 100 per cent success of the exercise.
