ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – In a significant diplomatic development, Bayelsa State officials met with their counterparts from Namibe State in Angola to explore new avenues for collaboration, particularly in the maritime, agricultural, and oil and gas sectors. The meeting, which took place yesterday, was led by Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri.
The Namibe State delegation was headed by Governor Archer Mangueira, with Vice-Governors Ema Samali Henriques da Silva and Abel do Rosário Kapitango also present. Namibe, which shares a similar coastal landscape with Bayelsa and borders the Atlantic Ocean, has become a regional leader in the marine economy and is widely recognized as Angola’s fishery hub, the statement released by Governor Diri on his official X account on Saturday said.

During the meeting, both parties discussed potential cooperation in areas such as maritime development, agricultural partnerships, and the possibility of joint ventures in oil and gas exploration. Cultural exchange programs were also highlighted as a priority for enhancing bilateral ties.

The talks underscored the importance of fostering stronger economic cooperation across African nations, with a particular emphasis on the role of sub-national and national governments in driving growth within their regions.
Governor Mangueira extended a warm reception to the Bayelsa delegation, hosting a state dinner at his residence, which was attended by the two young Administrators of Tômbua and Moçâmedes, Adilson Hache and Abelardo Lemba.

The Bayelsa delegation included a member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ebizi Ndiomu Brown; the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei; Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo; Security Consultant, Major Lancelot Anyanya (rtd); his son Joshua, who served as a facilitator; and Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah.
This engagement marks a new chapter in the growing relationship between Bayelsa and Namibe, as both states seek to harness their shared coastal resources for mutual prosperity.
