ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, continues to face resistance from the Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule-led State House of Assembly in his efforts to fully implement a Supreme Court ruling from February 28, 2025.
The ruling, which stemmed from a protracted political and legal battle, addresses several significant issues, including the seizure of federal revenue allocations to the state, the annulment of the October 2024 Local Government elections, the re-presentation of the 2025 state budget, and the controversial defection of certain officials.
Despite the adverse ruling, Governor Fubara has remained steadfast in his commitment to abide by the judgment, emphasizing his dedication to putting the interests of Rivers citizens above personal or sectional concerns. His resolve to adhere to the Supreme Court’s decision is evident, even as he faces opposition from the state assembly, which has hindered his ability to fully implement the court’s directives.
This ongoing standoff between the Governor and the Assembly has become a focal point in the state’s political landscape, highlighting the tensions between the executive and legislative branches as they navigate the fallout from the high-profile legal battle.
