A total of 2,525,471 registered voters will be participating in the November 6 Anambra governorship election, The Nation has gathered from voters’ register released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, in his remarks at an emergency meeting with political parties, disclosed that “the number of valid registrants in Anambra State at the end of the First Quarter of the CVR exercise on 5th September 2021 is 77,475.” He noted: “This figure has been added to the existing register of 2,447,996 eligible voters used for the 2019 General Election. Facebook, Big Cabal Media and Comic Republic on Wednesday announced the launch of #NoFalseNewsZone, a campaign aimed at minimising the spread of fake news in Nigeria. Facebook, in a statement, said #NoFalseNewsZone is an educational campaign focused on helping people identify false news and educate them on the actions to take to help minimise its spread in Nigeria. The Federal Inland Revenue Service has disclosed plans to impose taxes on social media activities and businessess. Chairman of the agency, Muhammad Nami in his speech at the ongoing meeting between the Senate Joint Committees working on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, and heads of revenue generating agencies of the Federal Government expressed plan of adding businesses on the social media to its tax net. Nami disclosed that the proposed amendments to the Finance Act would also affect the Stamp Duty Act because some of the provisions were already obsolete.
