Famous singer David Adeleke, aka Davido, is number one on the list of most followed Nigerians on social media. With a total of 56.1 million followers across various social media platforms, the ‘OBO’ crooner sits comfortably at the top of the list released on Tuesday by entertainment statistics company, Top Charts Africa. Grammy-winning singer, Burna Boy is number two with 38.6 million followers, closely followed by Wizkid with 38.4 million followers. Afropop divas Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage are tied with 34.3 million followers each, occupying number 4 and 5, respectively. Actress Mercy Johnson (33.5 million followers), music executive, Don Jazzy (30.1 million followers), singer Simi (29.9 million followers), skit maker, Mark Angel (29.7 million followers), and actress Regina Daniels (28.7 million followers) complete the top ten in that order. The list was based on followers across four major social media platforms; Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Tiktok.

Okechukwu urges youth to harness social media, books resources for personal, societal progress

FCT CJ decries negative effects of social media on administration of justice

ABUJA- The chief judge of the FCT, Justice Husseni Baba-Yusuf, on Monday expressed concern over the negative effects of social media on the administration of justice. Declaring the 2023/2024 Legal Year open, Mr Baba-Yusuf said the judiciary’s essential task is to make independent and impartial decisions on disputes brought before them. He added that the judiciary’s goal was to uphold the principles of openness, transparency, and accessibility in administering justice. ”I consider that it is pertinent to draw attention to one social evil that confronts the administration of justice frontally in this jet age of technology. By Ogechi Okorie Salman Yusuf, a close aide to General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has urged Nigerians to beware of internet fraudsters using the name and picture of the former military president to send wrong signals all in the name of politics. In his statement in Minna, the State capital, Yusuf said the former Nigerian leader cannot send messages since he does not operate any social media account. “Our attention has been drawn to a plethora of fake social media accounts, especially Facebook, bearing General Babangida’s name and photos. EFCC probes governor for withdrawing N60b

A NORTH-CENTRAL governor is under probe for allegedly withdrawing N60 billion in cash in six years, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Executive Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa has confirmed. The fraud, according to him, was uncovered by the newly-created Department of Intelligence under his administration. He spoke of plans to update Nigerians on the behind-the-scene investigations bordering on cybercrime and politically exposed persons (PEPs), adding that the agency has secured 1,576 convictions within 11 months. Bawa’s disclosures were contained in an interview published in EFCC Alert, an in-house journal of the commission. Although the interview was said to have been granted to Television Continental (TVC), the transcript was published in the magazine. Only one of the six states in the Northcentral is controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The others are under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bawa did not however, disclose the identity of the affected governor. There were indications that President Muhammadu Buhari has received preliminary report on the governor.
