ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Federal Government has announced a series of security measures, including the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State, following the abduction of pupils and teachers from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
A high-powered delegation sent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited Esiele and Yawota communities on Sunday to reassure residents of the administration’s commitment to securing the safe return of the victims, who were kidnapped on May 15, 2026, from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School.
The delegation, led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, conveyed President Tinubu’s deep concern over the incident and his determination to deploy every available resource toward rescuing the abducted pupils and teachers.
As part of immediate measures to strengthen security in the area, the President approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the Oyo State Government. The delegation also assured community leaders and lawmakers that their request for the establishment of a military base in the area would be forwarded to the President for consideration.
The team further disclosed that President Tinubu had directed a specialized security unit with advanced rescue capabilities to intensify operations aimed at securing the release of the victims.
Other members of the delegation included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu; the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare.
Addressing residents in both English and Yoruba, Gbajabiamila said the President was deeply troubled by the abduction and had directed the nation’s top security officials to ensure the victims were rescued safely.
“Mr. President is deeply troubled by this incident. Whatever it takes, our children and teachers will be brought back home safely. He has issued all necessary directives and is providing every support required by our security agencies to achieve that objective,” he said.
He also assured parents and community members that the rescue operation would be intelligence-driven and carefully coordinated to avoid jeopardizing the safety of the victims.
According to him, the government had taken note of appeals from families urging caution in the rescue efforts and would employ both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to secure the release of the abductees.
The delegation later visited the palace of the Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye to commiserate with the traditional ruler and the people of Ogbomosoland over the incident.
The team also met with Mrs. Mary Oyedokun, widow of a teacher who lost his life during the attack, and her two children. Gbajabiamila conveyed President Tinubu’s condolences to the family and assured them that the Federal Government would provide support to ensure their welfare.
The visit underscores the Federal Government’s intensified response to the school abduction, amid growing concerns over security in parts of Oyo State and other regions of the country.
