In what can best be described as round peg in round hole, the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has appointed Mr Rawlings Emmanuel Agada as the Clerk of the Senate.
Mr. Agada, a native of Ipari Otukpa, in Ai-Oodo, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State, has served in various capacities, since joining the service of National Assembly, including representing Nigeria in the Permanent Secretariat Desk of the Pan African Parliament, South Africa; and was also prominent in the Legislative Business of both the regional Parliament and Interparliamentary Union, Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Agada was also President, Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, National Assembly.
In May 2019, he was appointed the Director, Information and Research, National Assembly, who saw to the digitization of proceedings in the Chambers; recalibration of the accreditation process for National Assembly Correspondents; inauguration of National Assembly New Media; amongst others.
On the 26th June, 2023, exactly 2 years ago, Mr. Agada was appointed Deputy Clerk (Admin) of the House of Representatives, and few months later, his service became sort-after in the Red Chamber, and he was redeployed as Deputy Clerk (Admin) of the Nigerian Senate, the position he held until his recent elevation as Deputy Clerk (Legislative) of the Senate.
And yesterday, the National Assembly Service Commission graciously, though meritoriously, appointed the Legislative Juggernaut, an astute Legislative technocrat and Profesional to the core, Mr. Rawlins Agada as the Clerk of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to continue to provide cognitive expertise and guidance to the Red Chamber, and by extension, the National Assembly.
Precise Post recalls that in a letter dated 26- June- 2025 titled: Redeployment As Clerk, Senate and signed by Dr. Saviour Enyiekere , Executive Chairman of the NASC, states: “I write to inform you that the Commission has approved your redeployment from Deputy Clerk, Senate, to Clerk,Senate in the National Assembly, w.e.f 26/06/2025. This is in exercise of its powers as provided in section 6(b) of the National Assembly Service Act 2014”
“It is therefore expected that you will continue to uphold the confidence reposed in you in your new duty post” the letter further reads.
Mr. Agada, a no nonsense man, will no doubt bring his legislative erudition to bear in his new appointment.
