Prophet Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje and founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, has sparked controversy with a bold statement about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a viral video circulating online, the outspoken cleric claimed that Tinubu is “not a true president” but rather a businessman whose focus is on amassing wealth for his family instead of leading Nigeria toward progress.
According to Odumeje, genuine leadership is defined by selfless dedication to nation-building and the welfare of citizens. He compared Tinubu unfavourably to world leaders such as former U.S. President Donald Trump, Burkina Faso’s Captain Ibrahim Traoré, and China’s Xi Jinping, whom he described as more committed to the development of their nations.
Odumeje further criticised Nigeria’s political elite, accusing them of prioritising personal enrichment over national growth. He lamented that despite Nigeria’s status as the so-called “Giant of Africa,” the country continues to face economic hardship, insecurity, and poor governance.
He said:
“I don’t know who is calling Tinubu president. Tinubu is just a businessman. If you want to talk about a president, mention Trump, Ibrahim Traoré, Xi Jinping, and many others — they are true leaders. Leaders are those who develop their country so their children and citizens can benefit. But in Nigeria, our leaders are only busy acquiring wealth for their children. Nigeria is not the Giant of Africa; it is the Giant of Failure.”
Odumeje’s remarks have since stirred heated reactions across social media, with Nigerians divided over his blunt criticism of Tinubu and the ruling political class.
