ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Human Rights Activist, Comrade Shehu Sani has said that Africa should not expect anything much from Donald Trump.
As Donald Trump assumes the American Presidency today, the world faces the arrival of a disruptive force in global politics. Known for his strong nationalist agenda and business acumen, Trump’s leadership is poised to challenge the international status quo, Senator Shehu Sani has said.
His approach, likely to include major shifts in organizations like the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU) and NATO, will set the stage for a tense clash between American priorities and global cooperation, the former federal lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly said when he took to his X account handle on Monday.
According to him, Trump’s presidency is expected to focus on an “America First” doctrine, which may lead to strained relations with both allies and adversaries. While his aggressive policy changes could unsettle many, it is unlikely that Africa will see substantial support or attention from his administration.
Although former President Biden’s tenure also failed to significantly benefit the continent, Trump’s return to power offers little hope for substantial change.
In this new era, Trump’s influence might act as a wake-up call for the world to reexamine its global relations and responsibilities. However, it remains crucial for nations to uphold universal human values, even as they navigate the challenges of a more unpredictable world order under Trump’s leadership.
