ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has met with former South African President Thabo Mbeki and former Botswana President Ian Khama in Cape Town, South Africa, where he commended their continued advocacy for peace, unity and stability across Africa.
Obi, who took to his X handle to announce this on Sunday, disclosed that the meeting was his final engagement in Cape Town before departing for Johannesburg.
According to him, the interaction provided an opportunity to appreciate both elder statesmen for their positive interventions and comments regarding recent immigration issues within the region, as well as their consistent efforts toward fostering unity among African nations.
The former presidential candidate described Khama and Mbeki as highly respected leaders on the continent, noting that their influence and contributions have remained significant even after leaving office.
During his meeting with Mbeki, Obi also reunited with former Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, whom he described as a friend.
Fayemi delivered the keynote address at the Thabo Mbeki Africa Day Lecture, where discussions centred on rebuilding African unity and revitalising institutions across the continent.

Precise Post recalls that the event was organised by the Thabo Mbeki Foundation.
