See When California Plans To Fully Reopen Economy

By Ogechi Okorie California (Precise Post) – Governor Gavin Newsom on Tuesday said that California will fully reopen its economy on June 15 if COVID-19 hospitalizations are low and stable, and vaccine supplies are plentiful enough for everyone over the age of 16 who wants to be inoculated. The move to end pandemic restrictions in the most populous U.S. state comes as California continues to ramp up its vaccination efforts, with about 360,000 doses administered per day and 7.5 million people fully vaccinated. “We can now begin planning for our lives post-pandemic,” Newsom said. “We will need to remain vigilant, and continue the practices that got us here – wearing masks and getting vaccinated – but the light at the end of this tunnel has never been brighter.” If cases are low and vaccines readily available, businesses will be allowed to reopen fully, but they will still be expected to mandate mask-wearing and encourage people to become vaccinated, Newsom said. By Ogechi Okorie Abuja (Precise Post) – The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Tuesday pointed out the real reason why it’s kicking against re-opening of universities on the 18th of January, 2020. ASUU has insisted that Nigerian universities are not ready to re-open in the middle of a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Recall that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had earlier directed universities to resume academic activities on January 18. But ASUU is asking the federal government to review the decision, as more COVID-19 cases continue to be reported across the country. Precise Post recalls that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday reported 1,244 new cases and three more deaths. “Our concern is rooted in the safety of our members,” ASUU’s National President, Biodun Ogunyemi, said on Sunrise Daily. “What happens to congested hostels, crowded classrooms? What flexible arrangements are in place? It is a situation of emergency. I’m not sure the Universities can cope. When asked if e-learning was an option for universities, the ASUU President said the necessary infrastructure was not in …
