The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has declared that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is no longer recognized as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a strongly worded statement released by Obinna Nwachukwu, Chairman of the CP-PDP, the group asserted that the former Governor of Rivers State must be “put in his rightful place,” emphasizing that Wike’s repeated public outbursts should no longer be taken seriously by Nigerians.
This response follows Wike’s comments during a media chat on Monday, where he appeared to position himself as an authority on internal party affairs and attempted to dictate conditions within the PDP.
According to the CP-PDP, Wike has long disqualified himself from being regarded as a PDP member due to his open allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and his consistent support for President Bola Tinubu.
“We have no interest in engaging in a war of words with someone who is merely an appointee and public defender of a failing administration,” the statement reads. “The PDP has evolved beyond the era of intimidation or manipulation through political theatrics.”
The group stressed that the PDP has firmly established its leadership in both the South-South and South-East regions, and any attempt by Wike to question or undermine these structures is baseless.
“Wike’s references to court orders regarding the party’s zonal leadership are irrelevant and should be ignored. The chapters are functioning effectively, and the party remains focused on rebuilding and strengthening its internal democracy,” the CP-PDP added.
The statement marks a clear line drawn by PDP professionals, signaling that Wike’s influence within the party has effectively come to an end — both in name and in relevance.
