In its usual way of not taking responsibility, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has blamed the fuel queues in Lagos State and Abuja on some construction projects going on in the state.  NNPC’s Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mister Adeyemi Adetunju, gave this explanation while addressing a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday. “The recent queues in Lagos are largely due to ongoing road infrastructure projects around Apapa and access road challenges in some parts of Lagos depots,” he said. “The gridlock is easing out and NNPC has programmed vessels and trucks to unconstrained depots and massive load outs from depots to various states are closely being monitored.” “Abuja is impacted by the challenges recorded in Lagos. TCN To Add Over 98MW To National Grid

Plans have been made to add over 98 megawatts to the national grid by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN. This is coming as TCN energized a new 2X60MVA, 132/33kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) at Gwarinpa, Abuja recently. TCN’s general manager of public affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah stated this in a statement released to DAILY POST on Tuesday. According to her: “The 132kV transmission substation is one of the five substation projects comprising the Abuja Ring Projects, funded by Agence Francais de Development (AFD). The substation which has six (6) feeders through which bulk electricity is transmitted to Abuja Electricity Distribution Company’s (AEDCs) load centres, receives bulk supply from the Katampe 132kV Transmission line. “The other four substation projects are at various stages of completion. Two would soon be energized while the other two are ongoing. The wives of repentant Boko Haram fighters have given birth to no fewer than 263 babies in four months. The Borno State Government disclosed this to journalists in Maiduguri, the state capital on Tuesday. The delivery was conducted at the health facility located inside the Hajj camp in Maiduguri, which is currently being used as a temporary shelter for repentant terrorists. According to the state government, over 16,000 repentant terrorists are being accommodated in the camp. Giving the breakdown of the delivery to journalists, the Medical Officer in charge of the health facility, Dr. Mohammed Saleh said 94 children were birthed in July 2022, 98 in August, 60 in September, and 11 in October. “Almost on a daily basis, we carry out delivery,” Saleh said. A Labour Party’s women leader in Kaduna State, Mrs. Victoria Chintex, has died. The woman was shot dead by gunmen who stormed her house on Monday night. Civil Servants To Enjoy 14-Day Paternity Leave In Nigeria

By Chris Udochukwu The Federal Government has approved 14-day paternity leave for serving male officers whose spouse delivers a baby. Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, in a circular said the leave will take effect from November 25, 2022. She said the leave is in line with the provisions of the Public Service Rules, 2021 Edition. “Government has also approved Paternity Leave for serving male officers whose spouse delivers a baby. The period of the leave shall be fourteen working days. The leave shall not be more than once in two years, and a for maximum of four children. “Where the family of a male officer adopts a child under four months old, the officer will similarly enjoy Paternity Leave for a period of fourteen working days,” the circular read. Yemi-Esan also said request for such leave must be accompanied by the Expected Date of Delivery’s (EDD) report of the officer’s wife or evidence of approval of the adoption of the child by the relevant government bodies.
